As for a landscape on artificial intelligence in this fall 2015 we tried to focused only on general purpose AI development. Not all are commercial companies as we also added 3 universities leading the field in both technical and philosophical terms. Though one may understand Deep Learning or language processing AI development close to general purpose machine intelligence we refrain from putting them in the list excepted when those player explicitly expressed general purpose intelligence. So that’s why you will not find any Microsoft or Apple even if they lead many of the technologies of the industry. There are certainly many other around the world and we would complete the list but while a lot of companies are on the field of AI, general purpose AI can hardly be defined as a “product”, yet it is a business.
